Building a Stronger Future Through Advocacy Together
By Susan Wright, Co-Chair of the Together Women Rise Advocacy Group with RESULTS
Joining the Together Women Rise Advocacy Group with RESULTS can help our grantees by providing the resources they need from their local services such as vaccines and other medications, food for malnourished children, and improvements in the quality of public education. Through our advocacy webinars and experienced coaches assigned to mentor each advocate, we can show you how to be an effective advocate for these programs.
You can sign up here for the Together Women Rise Advocacy Group With RESULTS. We hold monthly webinars on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 8:30 PM ET to discuss advocacy priorities in the coming period and offer ways to speak up.
Recently we have seen encouraging signs that our consistent, targeted advocacy works. The House Appropriations Committee showed a strong bipartisan commitment to fund international health and education programs by restoring funding for these budget line items that were slashed in the Administration’s proposal for fiscal year 2026. Now we need to make sure that the Senate keeps at least these amounts in the final budget and strongly resists the Administration’s call for rescissions that would claw back funding already agreed by Congress. We are also urging them to honor the U.S. commitment for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.
At our recent monthly webinar, we took a deep dive on writing Letters to the Editor (LTEs) on global health and foreign aid. This is a great way to inform our own communities and convince elected officials that their constituents strongly support foreign aid. Whether you are an experienced writer, or you’ve never written or submitted a letter, you can find resources here.

Advocacy Resources
- Congress: Reject any new rescissions
In July, Congress approved a rescissions package from the Trump Administration to renege over $8 billion in foreign aid funding. This despite the fact that nearly 300,000 children around the world have died as a results of recent foreign aid cuts. Tell your members of Congress to quickly reject any new rescissions requests.
- Congress: Prioritize the Global Fund this year
Since 2002, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria has helped save 65 million lives. More people than ever have access to HIV treatment, TB care, and malaria prevention tools like insecticide-treated nets—progress made possible by the Global Fund. Send an email urging your members of Congress to make the Global Fund a priority this year.
