About the Speaker

Dr. Oraib Al Smadi
President, Jordan Society of Family Medicine

Dr. Oraib Al Smadi is an expert in health care management and quality improvement, and a consultant in Family Medicine with 30 years of experience in primary health care (PHC), reproductive, maternal, neonatal, and child health (RMNCH) services, and health systems in Jordan and the region.

Her experience includes serving as a Family Medicine Consultant at the Ministry of Health (MOH) and working for 20 years with consecutive USAID health sector projects in Jordan. She is also certified to prepare PHC facilities for accreditation.

Dr. Al Smadi is a master trainer in PHC, reproductive health and family planning (RH/FP), counseling, communication skills, and family medicine. She has extensive experience in both pre-service medical education and in-service training within Family Medicine residency programs and the Jordan Medical Council.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Al Smadi supported Jordan’s National Response Plan by applying evidence-based approaches to design and implement activities that strengthened the MOH’s capacity to manage COVID-19 cases. This included adapting evidence-based guidance and protocols to improve provider and facility readiness, such as case management protocols and home care guidelines.
