Kenya 2019 Trip

From the wide grasslands of the Masai Mara to the majestic wildlife that roams within it, our Together Women Rise travelers saw firsthand why Kenya is a bucket list destination. Their journey started in the busy heart of Kenya, Nairobi – where they met TWR grantees and witnessed the complexity of life in an urban jungle. After a few exciting days in this city, they swapped the hubbub of Kenya’s capital for vibrant rural communities where more TWR partners work and thrive. The journey concluded against the unforgettable backdrop of the Masai Mara as our travelers searched for lions, cheetahs, and elephants on a safari.

Trip Highlights included:

• Visiting four TWR grantees: Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO), RefuSHE (formerly Heshima Kenya), Kenya Self-Help Project, and Wiser International.
• Touring cultural and historic sites in Nairobi.
• Visiting with baby elephants and giraffes at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
• Spending two days on safari, enjoying the endless plains and wildlife of the Mara, including large prides of lions, elephants, giraffes, zebra, and more.
