Project Title: Culinary Training as a Pathway to Prosperity

Location: Africa → Morocco

Grant Amount: $50,000

Grantee Website: amalnonprofit.org

Mission of Amal
Amal’s mission is to empower women from disadvantaged backgrounds through professional culinary training, life skills, and job placement.

Summary
With this grant, Amal will implement a 10-month culinary training program that combines high-quality culinary instruction with wraparound supports — daily meals, medical care, ad hoc housing assistance, and an emergency fund — to reduce systemic barriers to completion and employment. The program’s focus is on delivering proven outcomes, including a 92% job-placement rate, continued post-graduation support, and an active alumni network offering job leads and mentoring.

Why We Love This
We love this project because it removes the most immediate barrier to participation — lost income — by funding living stipends that make full-time training possible. The model blends mission with market — training alongside earned income from restaurant and catering — while keeping participant feedback at the center of program design. It is practical, dignified, and built with the women it serves -- exactly the kind of investment that turns potential into lasting opportunity.
