KGSA Foundation

Project Title: Kibera Girls Soccer Academy (KGSA)
Location: Africa → Kenya
Grant Amount: $50,000
Grantee Website: kgsafoundation.org
Mission of KGSA Foundation
The KGSA Foundation partners with the Kibera Girls Soccer Academy (KGSA) to provide a free, holistic high school education and boarding to 150 girls in Kibera, Kenya – one of Africa’s largest informal settlements.
Summary
With this grant, KGSA will strengthen its institutional capacity in three priority areas—academic performance, monitoring & evaluation (M&E), and financial sustainability—to expand impact and resilience. This includes implementing teacher training and a recognition program to improve STEM instruction and student outcomes; designing and launching its first M&E system with clear student and alumnae indicators to track learning, graduation, transitions, and post-school pathways; and building local fundraising capacity by training staff and board members in donor engagement and grant writing to diversify revenue.
Why We Love This
We love this project because it invests in the backbone of KGSA’s mission: better teaching, better data, and better sustainability. The plan pairs practical STEM teacher development with a first-time M&E system, creating a clear line of sight from classroom practice to student and alumnae outcomes. By building local fundraising and grant-writing skills, KGSA strengthens its long-term sustainability. This is a high-leverage, locally-owned path to serving more girls with demonstrably higher quality.
