Advocacy Accomplishments in 2022
2022 was a very successful year for Together Women Rise’s Advocacy Group with RESULTS. There were many accomplishments to celebrate: the successful replenishment of The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria; the passage of the Global Malnutrition Prevention and Treatment Act; progress toward passage of both the End TB Now Act and the READ Act Reauthorization. It has truly been an exceptional year.
During the final few weeks of the lame duck session, we have continued to reach out to our members of Congress, urging them to support the End TB Now Act and the READ Act. Hopefully by the time you read this, we will have been successful in securing passage of one or both of these bills.
Our Together Women Rise advocates have been an essential part of this partnership with RESULTS. In fact, many of them have taken on greater roles as advocates, with both Rise and with RESULTS, often taking on roles advocating for US and global poverty issues. These actions move the needle closer to our goal of gender equality, both globally and domestically.
This winter, when the 118th Congress begins, we will have the opportunity to engage with many new and returning legislators, and build relationships with them and their staff. It’s a perfect time for you to join us and learn to effectively influence policy and funding around global gender equality.
Please consider joining us on Tuesday, January 17th at 8:30 pm ET/5:30 pm PT. During this webinar, we will welcome new people, hear from a couple of Rise advocates about their experiences, review the planned 2023 campaigns, and then take an advocacy action together. You will not need to register beforehand. You may simply join at 8:30 PM ET by going to this link. I look forward to seeing you there.
