Our Member Travel Program
Together Women Rise’s Travel Program provides meaningful and inspirational travel experiences for our members. These trips offer opportunities for members to connect face-to-face with our grantees and the women and girls we serve. Our goal is that these experiences will deepen our members’ understanding of the issues facing women and girls in the developing world, especially the women we support, while fostering strong bonds of friendship with travelers.
Together Women Rise’s exclusive travel provider is Elevate Destinations, based in Cambridge MA, which specializes in designing and implementing travel programs for nonprofit organizations while empowering and respecting the local destinations. It is a female-owned and operated social enterprise with a strong commitment to sustainability practices and gender issues.
Together Women Rise works with Elevate Destinations to select trip destinations that are of interest to our members and allow visits to Together Women Rise grantees. We are committed to offering unique travel experiences at a variety of price points in order to appeal to as many of our members as possible.

Visiting Together Women Rise Grantees
Together Women Rise members interested in visiting one of our grantees are encouraged to participate in a Together Women Rise sanctioned trip through Elevate Destinations. On occasion, our members are interested in connecting with grantees when they are traveling on their own. Some of our grantees have their own visitor/volunteer models and are well-equipped to handle tourists. For others, accommodating visitors can cause undue hardship because of their limited staff and resources. Together Women Rise has developed some guidelines that will help to minimize any hardship on our grantees while allowing our members to connect face-to-face with the women and girls we serve.
Guidelines for Visiting Together Women Rise Grantees
2027 TRIPS
Uganda | February 24 – March 3, 2027
Together Women Rise invites you to embark on a powerful and immersive journey to Uganda—a land of lush landscapes, vibrant culture, and bold community-led change. This is more than a trip; it’s an opportunity to witness the impact of your generosity and connect with the women and girls whose lives are being transformed through Rise’s mission for global gender equality.
During the trip, you’ll visit three inspiring organizations that Rise has supported:
- Growth Through Learning – Providing full secondary school scholarships for underserved girls, including boarding, meals, books, and mentorship.
- MindLeaps – Using dance to build cognitive and emotional skills among refugee and vulnerable youth, while equipping girls with sexual and reproductive health education.
- Women’s Microfinance Initiative – Empowering rural women with village-level loans and business training to grow sustainable livelihoods.
Beyond these meaningful grantee visits, you’ll explore Uganda’s vibrant cities and stunning landscapes. Discover the cultural richness of Kampala with visits to the King of Buganda’s palace and the Old Kampala Mosque. Experience a traditional dance performance at the Ndere Centre, and shop at local craft markets. In Jinja, enjoy a serene boat cruise to the source of the Nile River, the world’s longest, and relax along its scenic banks. Beverley Francis-Gibson, CEO, will be the Together Women Rise representative on this trip.

Kenya | June 1 – 8, 2027
Join Together Women Rise CEO Beverley Francis-Gibson for an unforgettable journey to Kenya, where you’ll experience firsthand how women and girls are transforming their communities through education, healthcare, leadership, and opportunity. This immersive trip offers the chance to connect with inspiring grantee partners, engage in meaningful conversations, and witness the lasting impact of your generosity.
During the trip, you’ll visit four organizations that Rise has supported:
- KGSA Foundation – Providing free, holistic secondary education, housing, healthcare, nutrition, and leadership development for girls from underserved communities in Kibera.
- CureCervicalCancer – Expanding access to lifesaving cervical cancer screening and treatment through sustainable clinics, local healthcare worker training, and early detection programs.
- The Pangea Network – Empowering women and youth through education, leadership development, entrepreneurship, and business skills that create pathways to economic independence.
- Kakenya’s Dream – Equipping girls in rural Kenya with education, healthcare, leadership training, and life skills while working with communities to end child marriage and female genital mutilation/cutting.
Beyond these inspiring grantee visits, you’ll experience Kenya’s incredible culture, history, and natural beauty. Explore Nairobi’s iconic landmarks, including the Giraffe Centre, the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Elephant Orphanage, and the Karen Blixen Museum. Travel to Kisumu on the shores of Lake Victoria for a scenic boat ride and cultural walk at Dunga Beach before continuing to rural Kenya for deeper connections with local communities. Throughout the journey, you’ll have opportunities for group reflection alongside CEO Beverley Francis-Gibson, making this a meaningful experience of learning, connection, and impact.

Nepal | October 16 – 24, 2027 (This Trip is Now Waitlist Only)
Join Together Women Rise for an incredible journey to Nepal, where you will visit and interact with three organizations that Rise has supported:
- Sunsar Maya – Improving the livelihoods of vulnerable women and children through holistic, community-based services.
- Rural Health and Education Service Trust (RHEST) – Reducing girl trafficking, early marriage, forced labor, domestic violence, and sexual abuse through education.
- BlinkNow Foundation – Serving women and children in the lowest economic sector of the population in Surkhet, Nepal, a group that faces extreme poverty and lack of access to education and health care.
Between meaningful visits with Together Women Rise grantee partners, immerse yourself in the timeless beauty and cultural richness of Nepal. In the Kathmandu Valley, explore ancient cities like Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur, where intricately carved temples, bustling bazaars, and sacred stupas reveal layers of history and living tradition at every turn. Wander through vibrant markets, take part in a hands-on Nepali cooking experience, and witness daily rituals that have endured for centuries. Beyond the capital, unwind in the serene hill town of Dhulikhel, where panoramic Himalayan views and crisp mountain air offer a peaceful retreat, before continuing to Surkhet in western Nepal for deeper connection with local communities.
