We Are Growing Our Volunteer Program!

As Together Women Rise commemorates our 20th anniversary and looks ahead to the next 20 years, we want to ensure a top-rate Volunteer Program that meets the needs of Rise now and into the future, particularly as we expand our chapter and member numbers. We also want to ensure that every volunteer has a rewarding, empowering, and fun experience!

Over the past 10 months, a special Task Force of Rise volunteers and staff has been working on a series of recommendations for new volunteer roles within our Membership Program (which currently includes our Regional Leaders, Mentors, and Chapter Leaders). We have received feedback, over the years, that our current Regional Leader and Mentor roles are too broad and time-consuming and, at times, recruitment has been challenging. Our Task Force set out to create a volunteer structure and roles that would meet the needs of Rise both now and as we grow, while ensuring that we offered a variety of volunteer opportunities for individuals to utilize their unique skill sets, whether they have a little or a lot of time to contribute.

The Task Force’s work included many hours of careful consideration, planning, and consultation with current volunteers, chapter leaders, and members. We thank the members of our Task Force for the dedication and time they invested in this initiative.

We are pleased to announce the results of this Task Force, which will bring many benefits:

  • More volunteer opportunities offered by Rise
  • More clearly-defined, manageable and fulfilling volunteer roles
  • Better support for our chapters
  • More resources dedicated to community building and increasing awareness of Rise and its mission
  • Greater flexibility for our volunteers and our volunteer program as we grow

Our Chapter Leader role will remain the same, as it is a vital component to our chapter model. We will be creating FIVE new volunteer roles to replace the existing Regional Leader and Mentor positions. Our new roles will focus on improved support for Chapter Leaders from onboarding to long-term sustainability.
Below is a description of the five new roles, which we plan to implement using a multi-phased approach starting in early 2024. We have indicated where we are currently recruiting, but feel free to let us know if you are interested in any of the other positions.

These roles are available to Together Women Rise members as well as to anyone who wants to support our mission and serve our community! Training will be provided for all of these positions! We encourage you to check out the position descriptions and consider applying for one of these unique, fun, and skills-based opportunities.

Engagement Coordinators will respond to inquiries from individuals interested in becoming involved with Together Women Rise. As an Engagement Coordinator, you will create a positive first impression of our organization by responding – by email and phone — quickly and enthusiastically to all inquiries. We are currently recruiting for multiple positions. Learn more and apply here.

Trainers will provide consistent training and onboarding to new Rise chapter leaders to ensure the chapter’s success and sustainability in contributing to our mission. All of our Trainer positions are filled at this time, but let us know if you might be interested in a future opening.

Chapter Support Liaisons (CSLs) play a key role in supporting the needs of Rise chapters. CSLs will interact regularly with their assigned chapters, building relationships with the chapter leaders and serving as their main point of contact. This is a great role for anyone who enjoys meeting people, learning about our unique and varied chapters, and helping chapters be the best they can be! We are currently recruiting for multiple positions. Learn more and apply here.

Community Connectors will strengthen Together Women Rise’s community-building efforts by creating opportunities for existing chapter leaders and members to connect and engage with each other. They will collaborate with other volunteers and members to plan community building events and activities within an assigned geographic area or specific affinity group. We will be recruiting for Community Connectors in early 2024, but feel free to let us know if you are interested in this position. Learn more and apply here.

Ambassadors will focus on increasing awareness of Together Women Rise with new audiences and helping the organization to grow. We will be recruiting individuals with marketing or public relations experience in early 2024.

Most of these positions do not require any previous volunteer experience or knowledge of Together Women Rise. Once again, we will provide you with all of the training needed to be effective in your role! If you think any of these roles would be a good fit for you, please apply HERE. The application is quick and easy, and the detailed position descriptions provide information on necessary skills, duties, and time commitments.

Please also share these opportunities with other friends and family who may be looking to serve as a volunteer for a mission-driven organization. We are hoping to inspire new audiences to join us, and we need you to help spread the word!

SAVE THE DATE! We will be hosting a special “Virtual Volunteer Fair” on September 14. There will be a brief presentation and Q & A at 7 pm EDT, again at 7:30 pm EDT, and at 8 pm EDT. Each presentation will be the same so you can join the online meeting at whatever time is most convenient for you. You will learn about all the volunteer opportunities available at Rise, including the exciting new roles described above. Everyone is welcome; advance registration is required.
