Mission of Arogya World
Arogya World works to prevent non-communicable diseases (NDCs) through health education and lifestyle change, leveraging technology and partnerships to help people lead healthier lives.

Summary
By modifying and testing culturally-appropriate food and nutrition materials, this project aims to improve health behaviors known to prevent non-communicable diseases, such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and chronic lung disease, and improve the lifelong nutritional status of underprivileged rural adolescent girls.

Why We Love This
Arogya World has a very innovative model, delivering prevention education into the community where people live, learn, and work. We love that this is a science-based program that focuses on adolescent girls – a key stage in the life cycle of nutritional poverty. In addition to making healthy lifestyle choices themselves, the girls will become champions for healthy living, and become empowered to steer their own families and communities to adopt these habits. Improvements in the girls’ health will enable them to have healthier children and lead their entire families to improved health. Additionally, there is growing evidence that poverty and NCDs are interlinked, which suggests that improved health leads to increased financial stability and upward mobility and a decrease in poverty.
