Mission of CREATE!
CREATE! Center for Renewable Energy and Appropriate Technology for the Environment, seeks to reduce poverty, promote self-sufficiency and leadership capacity, while improving opportunities for women and girls in the village of Tieneba, Senegal.

By using appropriate and sustainable technologies, CREATE! will assist the Tieneban village women in providing a potable water system, including a solar powered pump and irrigation system; materials, tools and training for cooperative community gardens; training on fuel-efficient cook stoves (reducing firewood consumption by at least 50%); planting and maintaining fruit and nuts trees for income generation; and materials and training in raising poultry. CREATE! will also conduct leadership training to support self-sufficiency for women and girls. DFW's grant of $50,431 over 2 years will directly impact 358 women and indirectly 1200 within the community.

Why We Love This
We love this program because it addresses many of the Senegalese women's basic needs (water, food, shelter, health) while focusing on environmental conservation through gardens for sustainable food harvests, clean and readily available water, cooking stoves that use significantly less fuel, as well as other income generating projects such as tree and nut cultivation and poultry farming.
